I am trying camping!!!!

Any recommendations for the sleeping bag and a liner? Not too sure what a liner is

for the summer I use a Rab 300 down bag, superlight and packs down to tiny, Therm-a-rest Xlite mat, also superlight and packs tiny, the bag liner is only needed if you need a few extra degrees flexibility on the bag range, or if you are in the bag without washing for sustained periods.

Army surplus is a good place to start if weight is not an issue, high quality at a fraction of the cost, you can pick up pretty much everything you need in one shop.

Rrab 3000 is this army surplus?

No, and with a bike you don't need anything that light or expensive, you should be able to pick up a British Army surplus bag and liner for about £20.
I am not bothered about money too much Alan, I just dont want to look like a japanese sniper amongst other people who are using something sort of more upmarket?

These will probably do for a small trip around Europe, the liner is handy if the sleeping bag gets too hot just sleep in the liner and when used with the sleeping bag it will keep the sleeping bag clean inside and is easily washed.

You can pay a lot for good equipment but I just bought cheap and changed often when I was travelling, you can always buy things on the road if something gets ruined.
If your using a tent you wont need the bivvy bag cover.

All seems very cheap? Will these be suitable for a 5 week trip? Also any recommendations for a better tent as mine I have been informed is a play tent for kids

As I said I used to buy cheap and change often, you can pay a lot for serious equipment in your position that's the sort of thing I would buy, cant help with the tent never needed one.

As already mentioned Army surplus is always a good bet if you want something a bit more durable just think about the weight (thickness) how hot you will be in it.
