Ideas for kitchen light without ceiling light

I've slight large kitchen. There are few GU10 lights in the ceiling but they are not sufficient. We spend most of the time in the kitchen and watch tv as well. We need more light. I want to avoid ceiling LED tube lights as it will require much work.

We have 1 foot space above cabinets on 2 sides where we can easily place/fit tube lights/lights pointing upwards or towards walls. I'm not sure if it will help us to get more light in the kitchen or not.

Any suggestions?

Good suggestions, I'll check it out but that may not be enough I reckon.

I spend all my time in the kitchen, I have spot lights in the kitchen plus under cabinet lights and wall lights in the tv area.
And a main light over the table.

Wall Lights - good idea, will check on this.
