when u are using silicone please use fairy washing up liquid with water, dip ur finger in it and smooth ur silicone with it....IT STOPS IT STICKING TO EVERYTHING!
And if u want a neat job dip ur finger and use the nail of ur thumb to give a regulated thickness throughout.

Or even use a fugen boy ( sp ) constant radius in either direction. The will always be ***** silicone as long as b&q sell it and my father in law is around !!! makes all of us that can do neat tidy lines of silicone loads better !! :)

I envy those of you who can spread the silicone in a straight line - I have to rely on masking tape!

Isn't the point of silicone that it's supposed to stick!

Just cut the nozzle closer to the end and go easy on the trigger and only apply the amount needed to get a good bead. It doesn't take long to get a good technique with minimal splurge.

    Cheers - jonah

I use an old credit or cash card. I have cut each corner with slightly a different size angle, so I can use the best size for the job in hand!!

I tried some wickes sealant this morning. Claims to be more flexible then silicone & stronger. Was so easy to handle. Time will tell. & it's for exterior too.

  17. use your index finger and practice, after years its easy, but it takes time to perfect, you can't expect to bake a cake for the first time and be a pattisserie chef?
