So, this morning, scanning a wholesalers invoice whilst talking to customer on phone, put water in kettle, popped kettle on hob, went in other room, carried on discussion.

5 minutes later, strange smell and some black smoke coming out of kitchen, fire ball on hob.

I don't have a gas kettle, never have had one:D

So why I put it on the gas?, I put it down to multitasking - very dangerous activity for men!!

Rest of office day spent cleaning up all the mess, hob is finally OK, kettle not so much.

Naffin fire alarm, tht goes off every time I burn toast, nothing, not a peep:(

Did your smoke and heat detectors work
You will be putting coffee jar into fridge and milk into cupboard next.

I did exactly this last year! I was planning on cooking some pasta on the electric hob and to speed it up I thought I would boil some water in the kettle first. I fell the kettle up, but instead of putting the pan on the hob I put the electric kettle on the hob and went to the toilet. I then noticed this funny burning smell from the kitchen and the kettle was melting away on the hob! Thankfully the hob just needed a good clean to remove all the melted plastic, but the kettle didn't live to tell the tail.

I am glad I am not only the one to have done this. Again I was doing too many things at once when it happened.

Why the frown, just think if you were 75 and done that, you'd be living out the rest of your days in a care home.:(
    :D
