Incomer sheath Earth terminal (TNS Bond)

Hi all,

Can anyone point me in the direction of any regs pertaining to the earth terminal connection on a TNS supply.

I have read that there should be a earth wire or terminal soldered onto the lead sheath (provided by the DNO).

I have done a few jobs where either there is a BS951 clamp or a form of hybrid BS951 clamp that has been soldered on (looks a bit DIY).

Are there any regs regarding the type of connection/clamp that is permitted ?

Upto now I have spiked where I have any doubt. But I would like to see some official reg.

Cheers,

J.

Yes.. but its DNO reg and can be ignored or not as they see fit

just looking at a box of earth clamps and it states :

"not intended for use on the sheath or armour of a cable

Such misuse of a clamp is a departure from Regulation

Yeah Chubbs but we aren't talking regs here. this is in DNO territory so they make up their own and have been since NICEIC was a baby.

As has been pointed out by Chubbs Tenby T14 clamps to BS 951 (all) are NOT allowed o be used as TN-S clamps. On eof my local DNO's (EDF) will go 'mental' if they see T14's being used for such purposes an quite right too.

involved the rec about 10 times this year, every time they change a cutout they stick a bs951 clamp on the sheath

every single time

10/10

not one exeption

thats across EDF southeast and EDF london
