installing a digi clock..

240v

can someone give me some advice please...
need to install a digital time clock..note;IT`S NOT A HEATING TIME CLOCK..
its from a foreign country with a 2pin plug on it..like a shaver plug..
wots the cheapest way to install...

Any labels/markings on the clock?

If IT IS 230/240V then chop the plug off and bin it. Then fit a conventional UK 13A plug and away you go.

haven`t seen the clock yet..if it is 230/240...
would it be ok to wire to a fused spare..ie 3a fuse?

i suppose i won`t know till i look at the clock to find out wots - wot. thanks alot fellas

thanks alot tony ..just read your message..

never come across something that this to fit before..

which forign country ?

you have to make sure it is from a country with a suitable voltage (220-250) if it's from a country with a 110-120v supply you will need a transformer

otherwise yes you can just wire it to a 3A FCU

if it's european (europe is 220-240) it will probablly have what is nown as a europlug. this is a plug makde to fit most european sockets but not (officially) british ones a europlug has two pins which have a springy plastic part and a round metal tip they also have angled ends shape of the plug is like

p.s. it is possible to get a europlug into a uk socket if you use a screwdriver to open the shutters but i wouldn't advise it especially on a ring

Reminds me of the old pendulum clock we used to have, it was so old the shadow of the pendulem had worn a groove in the back of the caseing.!!
