I've just helped my mate renew the incoming water main at his daughter's bungalow. We used 25mm MDPE pipe. Do we need to insulate this where it runs under the suspended timber floor? Thinking about the current cold spell, as the house is still unoccupied and unheated. Has anybody experienced a freeze in MDPE pipe? Will the ice rupture the pipe or is it flexible enough to withstand such pressure? Thanks for any help, Les
strictly speaking and doing it to regs. exposed pipes must be lagged. never seen it burst on freezing though its usually the copper joined to it that splits !!
