It may seem clear closing doors better, however where the thermostat is in the hall not so sure, the wall thermostat could not really be more central in the house, and what ever room it is fitted in, it can't be perfect as we flit around which rooms are used, and other than bathroom and shower room all have programmable TRV heads which do not connect to wall thermostat, thought they would, but seems Nest has withdrawn support for Energenie TRV heads.

So doors open it likely senses an average of kitchen, dinning room, living room, and shower/toilet room all which have doors leading into the hall, and front door never used, always use kitchen door or dinning room patio doors to go in and out of the house.

So doors closed and less air movement and only heat is from hall radiator which has the TRV head set to same schedule as wall thermostat, but heat tends to go up stairs rather than warm the wall thermostat, doors open will guess average of all rooms, but again it means heat from down stairs goes up to next floor.

    So thoughts please.

Due to build it would be very hard to move wall thermostat, and in the main it works well, where it all seems to go to pot, is when we go out for the day, the geofencing auto turns down wall thermostat, and on return it then tends to over shoot.

With a two storey house the tendency is for the heat to rise as hot air is less dense. This will lead to upstairs being warmer than down. Assuming that the house has no draught issues, it seems that the options are, close all of the doors and the rooms will all get warmer as the hall tends to be the coolest room. Close only the doors upstairs and keep the bedrooms at the desires temperature set by the TRV's and trapping the warmer air on the landing and downstairs. Leave all of the doors open. Personally I would close the doors upstairs only.
