Currently building an extension at my home. I wasn't going to put anything between ground floor ceiling and 1st floor floorboards. I had a tradesman over recently and I asked, 'are you not putting anything inbetween'
So my question is, Is it part of current building regs to sound insulate between floors?

Yes, Building regs requires the floor void to be insulated for airborne sound. Easily done. Install some fibreglass. 100mm min thickness, min mass 10kg/m3.
