Don't despair Coloumb, our local authority has recruited a gate closure enforcement officer. His job is to go round checking gates and if any are left open he issues a penalty notice. The salary is poor by LA standards, only £72000 a year plus bonus.

A chap in the village with flat feet borrowed my foot pump. His feet are better now, so he brought my foot pump back this morning but left the gate open.
