Based on her Mastermind specialist subject 'stating the bleeding obvious' I think she must be or their headline writers are equally adept (or devoid of imagination).

'Huge rise in number of people claiming benefits'
'Universal credit claims hit record during lockdown'

There have been many others I just can't quote them exactly.

They really must try harder especially given the money we plough into their institution.

Sadly I abandoned the BBC a while back. I found I was experiencing far more frustration and disappointment from their TV and radio channels than I was being informed or educated.
I used to be quite a fan of Radio 4, but it has become more and more of a social engineering and brainwashing medium than I'm prepared to tolerate. Even state radio and TV in dictatorships have more subtlety than the BBC.

Should be called the BBBC - Boring BBC.
It definitely has a leftie leaning.
With news items it can have bias.
Or to put it bluntly, - We have been lied to.

I find most of the media outlets are getting really quite left wing, BBC and Guardian being the worst. The whole world is focusing more on equality of outcomes rather than opportunity or intent. Boils my **** somewhat.

I have recently given up on the BBC news. I was always a bit sceptical about bias in the BBC but during this recent unpleasantness it has become, in my opinion, more and more obvious. I am no particular fan of any political party but the relentless negativity about everything that the current lot are doing is becoming really irritating. Whenever anything is announced by the government that could be described as an achievement or optimistic, instead of just reporting it they feel the need immediately to stick a critic on screen.

The only thing I bother to watch now is the daily briefing and switch off before the journalists' questions. They just seem to want to grandstand by asking the "killer" question rather than shedding any light on the situation. It's little more than showing off.

    Al Jazeera for me.

Absolutely! Exactly how I see the journalists questions to many politicians, - they want an awkward killer question - often more a statement and playing the blame game.
We need journalists who are polite but have balanced and fully researched questions.
We also need politicians who have the b**ls to tell the journalist to back off

There is an unwritten golden rule to "never argue with a journalist" which must be observed at all times whenever you speak to one.

Well there has been hasn't there. Don't mention the politician's reply to the problem will you.

Exactly. Hardly news is it? Our dog could have told anyone that was coming. I'm just waiting for headlines such as 'Sky is blue' or 'Grass is Green'.
Hence my reference to Sybil's specialist subject.

Correct. An increase in unemployment is unavoidable what ever gov does due to how companies operate. They did also broadcast the political response that said the same thing - they have done what they can. ie Not just the fact that it has happened. Unfortunately news sources never seem to go further and explain why things happen. Seems some need it.

Net effect is righties jump in and say left wing view which isn't correct it's informative. In other situations the lefties might jump in and say it's a right wing view.

News in general has a bit of a problem - bad stuff is seen as making good news, left or right. Trying to get some prominent person to say the wrong thing is also common in some areas. Can't say that this is a prominent feature of the BBC, it is with the curly headed blond witch on C4 news. C4 can be very informative but there is a need to filter out the seen as being good news aspects such as asking stupid questions.

Most of the brief's reporter questions are often stupid but responses are of interest at times. The interviews around the brief often are as well. For instance the fact that it can be spread by either breathing or talking via contaminating things that others will touch. They know one hell of a lot about how various types of virus can spread.

Actually going on some of the questions yesterday news sources may be baiting a very large hook. There are also starting to be signs of SEP from politics - results all down to cr#p science. The mantra has always been "best scientific advice" repeated ad nauseam. That's politics. I'm reminded of a weapon inspector who slashed his wrists.

Peoples choice of newspaper often related to their own political views as well so if people want that sort of news go find it.

That's a very negative post, ajohn. Do you by any chance live in the UK?

Obviously - it's mostly a wonderful country ;) but for certain factors that are pretty common in many countries.
