Hi guys The boiler system has a type of filter I've. NEver seen before , just wanted to ask your thoughts on it . I'm used to the usual magna clean magnetic filters It looks like this brand https://www.spirotech.co.uk/products/spirotrap/ And probably this unit https://www.spirotech.co.uk/products/spirotrap/spirotrap--brass--hor-120/ From what I can see it's not a magnetic filter , Spirotech or spiro trap filter I'm talking about the gold colour device
https://www.mrcentralheating.co.uk/...MIsPvf0rbJ-wIVU-ztCh0kWAvCEAQYCyABEgJLdvD_BwE It’s this one without the black shroud that has been removed. Yes it’s a magnetic filter.
Sorry to ask simple questions so do I need to buy a magnet and also do you think it is worth it to change it to a magnaclean as it will be easier to dose chemicals
Looks like the magnet is the black shroud that’s missing. Upto u whether you change it or try and source a new magnet.
If i were to change the magnetic filter to a magna clean, would it be as simple as 1. shutting off mains water, 2. draining system 3. remove existing filter and install magnaclean 4. Dose with inhibitor
No need to shut off mains water as the heating is a sealed system. Drain heating, remove old filter, installl new filter altering pipework as necessary, refill and dose with inhibitor. Once up and running clean out filter reguarly until you are happy it’s clean.
Yes it is a magnetic filter, I have one on my Bosch combi which works fine, why do you want to change it?
I think it's missing the magnet the black bit and I think the only way to dose with this magnetic filter is via a rad . Usually I just put it into my magnaclean , this is the first time I've seen one of these filters
small update, i found the metal black thing in the loft, no idea why or how it got in there, ive added it back to the gold device, BUT unfortunately the boiler now no longer turns on ! geez
Hi guys another question this boiler was installed in 2014 March currently 8.5 years old coming up to 9 this coming March. The below is some of the history the boiler is worcester bosch 24i junior, its not not turning on at all (i've tried changing the fuse at the fuse switch) General Comments for the Installation or Inspection of the report: Boiler service history: 7.9.2018: replaced burner / MHE seal. Ignition + FSD electrode condition satisfactory. 21.8.2019: replaced condense sump "O" ring. 12.8.2020: no parts replacement required. Replace burner seal next year. 17.8.2021: replaced burner seal and gas supply tube. Ignition + FSD electrodes in satisfactory condition. Report printed using Tysoft EasyGas - Copyright Tysoft 2020. Ref: 2021220339 Page: 2 of 2 CONTINUATION FOR GENERAL COMMENTS Do you reckon its worth it to try and repair it ?
All of those things are general parts that need changing on a service so nothing out of the ordinary there. have u checked the fuse board?
For sure, if anything is wrong with it. At 8.5 years you have at least another 8.5 years left ! As pppmacca says these are general service parts. Worth checking if there is power to it as pppmacca says.
The blue light is on and the ECO light is on, so you have a supply. When you try to start it does the blue light flash, their is a fault code in the flashes. Does it give hot water or heating or both? If the light does not flash then the issue may just be that the boiler is not being 'called' which may be a timer issue or the room thermostat. I have one of these in my basement, it's the second Junior, not a particularly good boiler as the fault code self diagnosis is very limited, unlike the 40 CDi upstairs.
Sorry guys just to update , the above photo is old , this was literally a day ago now it doesn't turn on at all . There's a 3A fuse in the switch to the boiler and I changed it but no luck , (previously was supplying hot water but wasn't able to get rads to work) So no flashing light or anything The gas cooker works fine so gas supply is good . There is a timer and a thermostat (a pretty old one) all RCD switches are on at fuse Board Here is the close up of timer function. I would've thought the "on" would've by passed the timer ⏳ but even still the hot water should work right?
