Joining a wall plate after chimney removal

    Screenshot_20200704_151121.jpg I'm hoping someone can help us with how to join the wall plate after removing a chimney on an external wall hopefully the photograph will illustrate what the issue is

    just cut same size wallplate timber and spike to exsting plate each side then cut rafters felt battern and tile job done

    Thank you. We were concerned that the wall plate join had to slot together but great to hear that we can spike them. Much easier!

    you would not be able to joint it as its under rafter the wall plate will be surported by bricks eitherside

    Apologies, when you say spike together, are you using a spike plate or just spikes or do you mean something else together please?

    just nail with 100 mm round nails
