I bought a kewtech 107 to test the wiring in my new home but I don't get any lights showing at all on the loop test check. I have tried it on downstairs and upstairs circuits and its the same It does its self check, polarity flashes green with continuous beep. You don't need to press anything for it to work do you? The rcd test works fine since having a new amd3 board fitted with rcbo's. I might try it else where just to check its not a duff unit
If your testing as a home owner, if the board was changed did the sparks give you a certificate to show compliance with the regs? He certainly should have done.
I have one. Plug it into a live socket. After the three triangular sockets all light up green then the loop test should light up green with a continuous tone being heard. If the loop test is less than good it should light up either amber or red. If none of the three centre oblong indicators light up then you have a faulty unit. The only test you can initiate from the unit apart from just plugging it in is by pressing the pink RCD check button.
What the hell are ya doing this for..? Recent board change and your going around with a plug in tester..? Nice to know Joe public has faith in sparkies then!
What are you talking about sparky, don't just jump to conclusions. I bought it just for Diy, not because I don't trust electricians. I only had a new board fitted, no I didn't get a certificate although he's nic registered, Thanks all anyway, sounds like a duff unit then. I will chase up the certificate for the new board .
