I see no one’s been brave enough to start a thread about this sad case. ( probably more worried about how it could affect the price of petrol) So,,,, what’s your take on the “accidental killing “ and subsequent cover up by Saudi officials ?

Totally unknown to me until recent reports.
I'll have to read more before I can offer an opinion.
    What are your thoughts.

Appears to be a very dirty and planned deed. It was no accident by the evidence thus far.
Will be interesting to hear the Turkish evidence that is about to be revealed.
But in politics money and oil matter more than murder it seems.

My view is that the Saudi’s did indeed murder him, then have tried ( unconvincingly) to say he was killed during a fist fight. What will happen now is anyone’s guess ( but I bet the price of oil will increase )

Apparently now claiming he was murdered by a “ rogue operation” and that it was a “ mistake “ Hmmmmmmmmm

Clearly a targeted "state sanctioned" killing.

    Part of a growing problem.

Plenty of nations are doing it seemingly with little in the way of punishment.

Russia, North Korea, Saudi and Israel all think nothing of killing, in fact they revel in it.

You mention Israel, surely under the new anti Semitic guidelines this is not accepted.

Our Foxie was well gutted that he'll find it more difficult to make deals with his new friends.

Anyhoo, what's all this 'brave enough' nonsense, JJ? This is a valid current news topic, one of immense importance, and folk can discuss it as much as they like in this wonderful country as long as they don't say anything patently stupid.

Oh dear, IIR just has. Not so much said, of course (what did you say about 'brave enough', JJ?) but insinuated.

I think IIR was suggesting that Filly reckons all Arabs are like Prince Mohammed Bin Salman? But I stand - hopefully - to be corrected.

Please correct me, IIR. (and I don't mean in a naughty way either)

As Saudi is one of the most corrupt, evil and backward looking nations on earth......is anyone surprised ?
Can anyone accept that an older overweight journalist...would go into an embassy filled with security, body guards, guns, trained murderers and religious fanatics.................and start a fight ?
I suspect that ..one.. high ranking officer will be found guilty, be sent back to Saudi in disgrace to be 'punished' in a lovely house and excellent retirement pension never to be heard from again.
The USA and British press will soon be quiet 'as justice has been done' and everyone in the EU can go on making money from the corrupt regime.
    Or am I jaded ?

Erdogan (who recently has the honour of staying in the same hotel as me) is in no position to be appointing himself as a moral arbiter.

His human rights record isn't exactly glowing.

Incidentally I got a better room than him and his entourage and the hotel gave me 10 free drink vouchers to make up for the disruption.

I doubt this will be the case.

The Saudis know they are in a bit of a corner on this.

Hence the now official confirmation of it being a murder.

They will be looking to show how "in depth" their investigation into this "rogue operation " is and will I think be deploying the sword possibly.

Nope. That's pretty much covered it.

It's a murky world to be sure, when you sometimes have to choose between the lesser of many evils for a long term outcome, but it's certainly skin-crawling stuff. Imagine having to go and make deals with these folk, knowing how they behave? Shaking hands with such brutality. Hellish.

Yes, what a backward step for that lovely country when he came to power. :(

They seem to be handling this situation pretty well, though - being quite frank and open about their findings. No drama, just a measured release of info.

    It is truly appalling.

And Trump's statement that he wouldn't impose sanctions because they would hurt the US too show what a coward he is.

He's not so much a coward as a psychopath. He has no empathy, understanding or care of the needs of others, only for himself and his ilk.

All his decisions are based on getting a quick buck. Climate change denier. Devoid of values, political or humanitarian. Instant gratification.

It ain't good. And the u-s on here would have voted for him if they could of.
