Hi have recently insulated between loft joists with 100mm insulation board and foil taped the joins & edges. I have no downlights/spotlights so have just cut a hole in the boards that allow wires to go through the ceiling to the lights and switches etc. The wires that span across the loft are exposed in open air above the insulation boards. I am placing a foil membrane over to top of the boards as it was recommended and would like to know will the wires be safe underneath the membrane or should I cut a hole through the membrane and thread the wires above that too?

I would leave as is, a foil membrane won't be any benefit
