Kitchen Extractor Fan Flooded

Hi,

I'm fairly new to electrical work currently undergoing electrician qualifications, so only know the basics and was seeking some advice.

My father-in-law recently moved into an old house and had a sudden power trip to his downstairs socket circuit that took ages to troubleshoot, and turns out the box feeding his kitchen extractor had been flooded with water after plumbing work upstairs.
The images show the inside and out of what was a surface mounted box with flex out to the fan, which looked to be fed from one single feed (of which the line and neutrals had 4 or 5 cores themselves which I hadn't seen before).
The wagos I connected when I saw it, as the unit needed disconnecting to prevent tripping but the feed was still live.

This needs replacing, so would replacing this with say a 20a DP switch with flex out be suitable?

I couldn't really tell what the original unit was, and haven't experience with extractor fans yet.

As always the help on here is much appreciated!

Thanks,
J
