My mums kitchen tap was dripping for several seconds when turned off, I have replaced the ceramic cartrdige but it's still doing the same. Can take 5-10 seconds for the water to stop, after that there are no more drips.

Can anyone give me any ideas about where the problem maybe or do I just replace the whole tap.

    Thanks

If it stops and stays stopped and you’ve already replaced the cartridge then it might just be the shape of the tap and any residual water between cartridge and spout.

    Thanks.

It did not drip when it was new, can't say how long before it started dripping though. It may have been after the cartridge was replaced before because the tap was constantly dripping, but again this did not happen straight away.

It will just be the water left in the spout after the tap's turned off. I wouldn't worry about it.

Water remaing in spout, the aerator partially blocked and the small amount of pressure take a while to reduce.

Try removing the aerator - some of which are designed to reduce flow and thus hold pressure in the tap which would not be noticable when new.

Lots of taps that have been dripping build up a limescale dam up the spout which holds back a small amount of water, try some squirting viakal up the spout. has save us quite a few taps during renovations...
