Kitchen Wiring

Hi, I’m currently wiring all the sockets and lighting in the new kitchen extension. I run in to a problem where I need to take the cables around two corners. From my understanding safe zones don’t carry around corners. The roof above the sockets is pitched and there’s a steel beam. Do I run the sockets up and make a hole above the steel that meets the joists or run the cable around the corner some how? The fuse box is in the small room on the right. Thanks in advance

You can only run the cable round the corner if there is an accessory on both sides of the corner to mark the safe zone.

But most important you need to get that fuse box replaced with a modern CU. Fuse boxes went out last century.

Yes, sorry. I called it a fuse box, I meant CU though.

What’s the solution then if I can’t run it around the corner? Up through the ceiling of the pitched roof and over the beam?

Is there going to be kitchen cupboards under the window? If so you could put the cables in trunking below the cupboards and don't bury them, just along that wall? Maybe.

I have also used flexi conduit for this, easier to clip neatly under plinths at the rear of the cupboards, keeps it all neat and protected from rodents to a degree.

There’s going to be cupboards (marked in green) although not fully across the wall where the window is.
