Kitchen worktop joint..help

Hi everyone! I am getting a kitchen worktop fit and there needs to be a joint in the worktop, I want it to be really unnoticable so thinking of putting it inline with one of the edges of the hob - is this acceptable? Or is it a mistake?

Thank you!

I personally wouldn't do that; Because of the hob cut out you will only be left with two small points to join the worktop and the joints may be a weak point.
Presumably you are talking about a wood/laminate type worktop, a good kitchen fitter will be able to do a very good job of the joint, but it will not be completely invisible.

Get a pro. Best money you’ll spend. I might do my own as I have all the jigs to do so. Would never risk it for a customer job as there too much at risk if you damage it.
As far as your question of location goes I’d avoid anything near the hob. Too much going on there and therefore more opportunity to catch the edge, get food, oil or water in the join.

Generally agreeing with others........ mistake. It is possible to do but would take some skill and being very careful.

You could glue the two pieces together and use bolts to pull together whilst the glue goes off. Use quality glue.

(However I always use silicone to joint worktops as glue can swell a poor quality chip / laminate worktop.)

You would then have to remove the bolts to cut out for the hob. If this can be done with the worktop pretty much in place then it may work if whoever does it is very careful.
What is the worktop made of ie solid wood, laminate etc and how long is the finished piece required????
