We've bought a 1930's house. We've taken the units etc out to have the bare bones. I've just been taking the wallpaper off and the plaster is coming with it so stripped it back to brick. We want to have a tiled kitchen, but what will be the best surface to tile onto?
  2. What kind of walls do you have - are they cavity? Do they have any insulation in them?

Assuming the outside walls are cavity walls, then just replaster. If not, then you might want to think about adding some insulation on the outside walls, but then you need to think about how wall units will be attached.
