Hi all, can these lights be extended by cutting and joining wires diy or not?

    LAPT5

i cant find long enough extension leads for them and want to install 3 to the 1 plug. just joining them about 1-2m between each will be ok without specialist know how?

cut strip and heat shrink, using the supplied extension leads (250mm) enough?

    thanks in advance ;)

You're better off wiring them into a junction box if the wires will reach a single point.

It looks like a figure of 8 cable so you may find a longer one that fits.

actually, id be better showing you. im installing 3 "red" and plugging them in at "green" dot

the yellow is how i think the wires will go. as they go in one end and out the other... im assuming ill need to double back with the one on the right.

but a junction would be good

You could use this junction box hidden away somewhere:

    https://www.screwfix.com/p/wago-junction-box/7355f

    With Wago 222 5-way connectors.

Extend each cable either soldering or crimping to some flex back to the junction box. Insulating the joins properly. Alternatively, use a surface mount junction box like this:

    https://www.screwfix.com/p/debox-2sl-in-line-junction-box/9858r

Then a single flex from the junction box to the plug socket.

If you wanted to add App. control rather than using the plug switch, that wouldn't be too difficult.
