Hiya, I’ve been trying to strip the architrave on my bedroom window, of mu 1890 house. Originally o tried sanding it, but hit a dark green paint several layers down that I thought was possibly lead. I’ve tried tackling it with paint panther and that’s gone through several layers however is not really working on the green. The green I have gotten off turns very hard and sticky… has anyone gone some good suggestions for getting this off cleanly, it’s making such an awful mess!
several layers down ... does suggest it will have lost definition in te shape and as you suggest their could be lead paint. If it has been there 130 years, it might be time for a change/replacement. The cost and time to sand it down could be way higher than buying new and installing that .
Try Peelaway horribly expensive but very good leave to do it's work and don't be tempted to remove the bandage too soon. Also do another one for water based should you need it for old emulsion. https://www.wood-finishes-direct.co...b11MpegMlPKdFa0tDu42xYup5q1br4zBoClYMQAvD_BwE
