Levelling floor to meet cork tiles?

    Hi all.
We've just had a wall moved which has made a room larger on the ground floor. The room had previously been fitted cork floor tiles which we carpeted over when we moved in. Moving the wall has left a strip of bare concrete floor approx 1.5 metres wide along side the new wall.

I've lifted some of the old damaged cork tiles to leave a neat edge. So far as I can tell the remaining cork tiles are well stuck down. I'm thinking of using levelling compound to bring the new floor level with the existing cork tiles ( not over the tiles obviously). Reckon the screed would be 2-3 mm. The alternative would be to have to remove all the tiles from the rest of the floor which would be a swine of a job.

I'm then going to have a new carpet and underlay put down on top.

Any thoughts? Do you reckon having these two surfaces butting up against each other will be OK?

    Cheers

Will be fine. Carpet covers a multitude of sins.
