Light bulb blew an tripped breaker.

Looking for some help. Top landing light bulb blew and tripped breaker. Bought replacement BC fitting bulb but light no longer working. Have checked both the downstairs and upstairs switches and both have no loose wires. Also checked all connections on the pendant and everything looks in order. Moved into house in may and fittings have always worked until now. Could the bulb blowing have damaged either the pendant or the 1 gang switch upstairs?

Can you reset the breaker ?
Is the breaker an MCB, or RCD ?
Are all other lights on the circuit working ok ?
Pics of the fitting where the bulb sits would be helpful.

Yes I can reset breaker. It's an MCB breaker for the upstairs lights. All other lights are working on the circuit.

Something doesn't look right on that right hand photo. Is one of the pins stuck up so not making contact with the bulb? They should both be spring loaded and of equal length.

Check the pendant cable where it connects to the bulb holder and make sure the power is off.
You have probably had a short circuit that tripped the MCB ,and there is no sign of arcing in the bulb holder.

This is connected wires at bulb.

Does the mcb trip when the bulb is out (when you switch the switch on)? or just when you put the bulb in?

Doesn't trip when bulb is out and both upstairs and downstairs switches are switched on. It trips when the bulb is in. Doesn't trip with switches either when bulb is in. It's intermittent when it decides to trip with bulb in.

Does the bulb light up and work ok for a period of time ,and without operating any switches the MCB trips sometimes ? Is that scenario what you are experiencing ?

Bulbs won't come on atall. The bulbs are working as put it in other pendants. Without switching the switches the MCB trips sometimes.

Been up the loft recently but the bulb had blew before a was up there. Was good few months before that. The cables in the loft are routed through cable conduits.
Sounds very much like something has been disturbed by possibly moving house and dragging things out of the loft by the previous owner. When you say wires run through conduits? are we talking metal conduit here or plastic conduit?

It's mental conduit. We got keys in march and moved in start of may. Loft was empty. We only have some suitcases and other bags up loft. These are stored near the hatch and I haven't stepped on any of the conduit. Only me that's been up loft. The MCB is tripping more frequently since I checked wires on the pendant and the switches today. It would trip every so often before this. This only started when bulb blew.
