Light bulb will not light up

    No its a bayonet type

    So Often happens, the metal on the spring over time "gets tired" and badly pressed against the light bulb.

    check the voltage at celing rose on incoming cable live and neutral before switch

    WWhen you did your voltage test, were you testing between the two reds, or between one of the reds and soemthing else?

    If you are voltage testing at the switch, suggest you test between earth and line. It doesnt sound like you have a neutral at the switch.

    it was the neutral on the light before
