    Hi all,

I recently moved into an ex LA house and was removing a 2 gang light switch for decorating. I noticed something strange with the wiring so thought I would see if anyone can explain it to me. Hopefully it's a pretty straight forward one.

The 2 gang light switch is in the kitchen. The left gang switches on the kitchen ceiling light and the right gang switches on the outdoor lights.

The incoming wire is a 3 core and earth cable. The main lights are on a live and switched live leaving the remaining core located on the COM to the outside light.

There is then a short wire that jumps from the outside light's L1 back to the kitchen's live COM. I have attached a simple diagram (apologies only had a black and brown pencil to hand.

    ----

Also I would like to install one of those Quinetic switches for the main kitchen light and I know I have to install a receiver but not sure how I should incorporate that to the above? Any advice would be good.

    TIA!

It would be better to post photos of the connections at each point.

You have a junction box in the ceiling.

Why do you want a Quinetic switch to replace what you have? Not really sure what you are trying to do.

    Junction box it must be.

re Quinetic switch well I want to create a new switch on the other side of the kitchen that only affects the kitchen light and not the outside light. Didn’t want to run any new wires.
