Is it right to have 2.5mm for lighting circuits?

We have a large Victorian house with 3 lighting circuits (Ground, first and second floors) on 10A MCBs but with 2.5mm cable.

Would it be better to rewire in 1.5mm?

If the lighting circuits are wired separately in 2.5mm and have earth wires (cpc's) they are OK.

yeah, there is no problem with it being in 2.5mm, just cost someone more to put in.
    The norm is 1.5mm.

It's not a problem if the cable is bigger than it needs to be. It's only a problem if it's smaller. How do you know it's 2.5?
