Lintel over old front door help

    Recently started removing an old external door frame from a family members new house (built 1970s).
    It's the old front door that's now in the hallways since an extension was built.
    I assumed being an external wall and being a wider door opening with a side light, it wouldn't be structural and would be supported above.

    As you can see in the picture the inner skin didn't have any support from the door frame anyway, Im not sure if I'm just doubting myself and panicking for no reason or if I may have been a bit hasty in beginning to remove the frame.

    Looking at the pictures would you assume there's a lintel in there? The frame was just a door with a side lite, so a mullion about a third of the way in from one side, surely the gable of the house would need more support than that over a door way?
