I intend to replace the conservatory, but just find that the mortar above the lintel has cracks causing like 3-5mm horizontal gap. The lintel has the same width as the PVCu sliding door. I figure the lintel does not offer bearing to the bricks above. And there is a wooden frame around the PVCu door frame. Maybe it's from a previous wooden door, and intend to offer some bearing?
    I have the questions:
    1. Should I repair the lintel and the bricks before the conservatory rebuild?
    2. Can I drill on these bricks to install a new conservatory without repairing it? Is it safe?
    2. How much is expected roughly for the lintel repair? Location: St. Neots

Really appreciate if anyone can offer me some advice.

Possibly a concrete boot lintel with slight roatation causing horizontal cracking above

Hi Severntrent, Yes, I think you are right. Read a blog, I think it's exact the same problem.
