    New loft insulation added.

Rockwool RWA 50m slabs for thermal and sound.

Loft had large number of noggins 47mm thick, so decided to use insulation measuring 50mm thick, once beams are in a further 50/100mm layer will be added on top.

Slabs were cut using a fine toothed handsaw.

Insulation cut fractionally larger to allow snug fit.

Small offcuts were used to infill areas. Not much wastage as slabs were 600mm wide and ceiling rafters were set with a 565mm gap.

    All done.

Next stage will be adding the telebeams, wall plates needed to be increased to clear 50mm noggins.

    Stay tuned.

House is warmer now, haven't had any insulation since Feb/March.

Just added the thicker wall plates today to front.

Scaffolder was supposed to come out today, but now they say tomorrow or Friday.

Have you got drawn plans or is it a 'whats in my head' job?
It would be nice to see a picture of the plans if you have them:)

Its going to be a velux conversion, was planning on doing a rear dormer, but now changed my mind as new houses have been built behind ours and don't realy like the look of them as some can be quite obtrusive

Did have architect draw the original plans for the dormer, only have the plans done from Telebeam. Not going to be great head room. They did all the calculations as well.

Once the trusses are out will decide what I want to do, may dust put a small kitchenette up there.

    Thanks.

I noticed that Stixall entered the plans:D:rolleyes:

Is the Telebeam system all bolted together or is it welded? never looked into them much more than a simple bit of googleing.

They said I could used screws, all fixings into the beams as well as angle plates need to be stainless steel.

    Prefer to use screws.

It cost £180 to have a survey done, this was refunded if order was places.

Total cost of beams came out at just under £6k :(

You mean strategically placed dynamite under the beams to blow them up and into the attic! :p

    There's 18 x 4.4m long beams to get up.

Will be getting scaffolding around the back and lift up 2-3 rows of tiles to get them in.
