Looking to get rid of a macerator, if possible

Hello,

We have a macerator in our flat which is connected to the kitchen sink and the shower. There is a wall in between.

The toilet and the basin I think are not connected to the macerator because the macerator does not turn on when they're used.

Can someone explain why there was a need for a macerator as all four (sink, shower, basin and toilet) things are so close and the toilet and basin don't use the macerator. More importantly, is there a possibility to get rid of the macerator.

Sorry if this is a silly question.

I have attached a photo of the toilet.

Thanks
