Has anyone used or seen being used the new makita or dewalt plunge saw,

Just had my festool stolen and wondered if these tools give as good a finish, as the accessories for both the dewalt and makita are alot more reasonable than the festool

    Thank

I have had the Makita for over a month now & use it everyday, I also have the Maffel KSP40 which I have had for a couple of years & I can honestly say the Mak is 10 times better, it is better to handle, even if it is bigger & cuts far better & the rail sticks better. I now cut everything from the face as it has a scribe setting & the finish cut is excellent on both sides. Whether I am cutting worktops or melamine I can edge the cut without putting a router near it. It is also about £100 cheaper than the Dewalt & Festool. I got the saw, two 1.4m rails, rail jointer, carry bag for rails & clamps for £320. I'm not saying the Dewalt or Festool are not as good or better, but I find it hard to see how they could possibly be any better.

I Have the makita plunge saw, its fantastic,
very similar to the festool in design.
Picked mine up on ebay £130 brand new!!!

BTW interesting test of plunge saws in "good woodworking"mag
this month (issue 201). They tested the FESTOOL, DEWALT,
    MAKITA & MAFELL.

    The festool came third!

    Happy plungeing

    anybody else with a view

  10. Ive just bought the 240v Makita. The only problem was that I had to compromise my 110v only rule.

Its very good for laminate work with the fitted 48 tooth blade. Its like a knife through butter on 40mm laminate and other worktops.

Havent used the festool 55, Im sure its very good, possibly the best but at the silly price I discounted it.

I got mine brand new from Ebay with case, 1.4m guide and 48 tooth blade all for £207.95 inc vat.
