Just Me being nosey again. My house has an oak floor in the kitchen it seems to be fixed down not floating, while having new carpet in the hall I removed the oak door bar and found there seems to be a sticky black mesh protruding from under the wood floor. I suspect it was laid on Marley tiles as the hall has them too (tested and asbestos confirmed) think the last owner fitted them which would be about 12 to 15 years ago. Was this a solution for sticking to the tiles or some weird idea the fitter had? Glad to say we have been in 11 years now without any problems with the oak, just wondering what can of worms I might have to open in later years if the floor has to come up!
