    Hi all,

We are having a engineered wood flooring put down onto existing joists. The boarding will be 20mm thick. We now are wanting to have an inset into the flooring floor in front of the front door for an inset doormat.

Obviously as the floor structure is joists, the doormat would need to sit on something, and that something plus the doormat can't be more than 20mm, or perhaps could be by 1 or 2 mm.

You can get doormats of 10mms, but can you get a strong but thin underflooring, strong enough to sit on the joists and support the weight of an adult wiping their feet!

Would be very grateful for any assistance / advice.
