Hi All I`ve just tried to install a tall monoblock tap and one of the hoses is split. Anyone know where I can get a 500mm long hose from ? they all seem to be 300mm. Thanks this sort of thing http://www.screwfix.com/prods/91351/Plumbing/Flexible-Hoses/Flexible-Tap-Tails-12mm-x-15mm-x-300mm-Pack-of-2?cm_mmc=GoogleBase-_-Datafeed-_-Plumbing--Flexible%20Tap%20Tails%2012mm%20x%2015mm%20x%20300mm%20Pack%20of%202
Check the tap tail size - they vary too. Most merchants will stock 300mm tap tails and you can then extend them with pipe etc. Or contact the manufacturer of the tap. ..and be careful next time!
Hi I cant join them because the monoblock is 330mm high and there isnt room inside the tap to allow you to join two together. And the reason I didnt buy a 500mm from SCREWFIX is that they dont sell monoblock tails that long, only normal flex hoses. thanks Paul
Hotdog, thanks. I might consider the pipe extension idea if i cant find tails long enough, Unfortunatly they arrived like this 4months ago and have only just been fitted.
Unfortunately they arrived like this 4months ago and have only just been fitted. Ah yes, there a right pain those dam 4 month warranty's!
right sarcy bunch on here arnt you. gotta fit this by tomorrow, if i wait for a replacement on warranty i`ll be waiting a week.
Fair point about the 300mm monoblocs - my mistake. BES will have them, otherwise can't you use a nipple??
ok thanks Mr.Ian, I`ll have a look on there. Dont think a nipple would work because of the tight space. its one of these taps http://www.bathroomheaven.com/uploads/Horizotall.jpg The connectors are right up inside the tap so space is only enough for the 10mm end to go.

I realise this may well be a dopey question (and I'll probably get slated) , but if the flexi tap tails go right up inside - how do you tighten them up enough to be watertight ?
They only need hand tightening. A common fault is people trying to over-tighten them and twisting the tails.
Google "Hydraulic hoses" in your area and just take one of your hoses and they'll be able to make you a new one. I done this once when a oil cooler hose on my Merc split, only cost me £6. Have a look at this site, http://www.circuit-hydraulics.co.uk/acatalog/index.html
Forgot to add that they'll probably be able to cut the crimps from yours and refit the ends to the new hose. For my Merc I had PTFE lined with ss braiding and they re-used the original fittings and it was about a metre in length, all for £6
