razor blade with cheese next to it , the rat looks over the blade and takes the cheese

The rats I have encountered are clever little bleeders. They would probably take the blade, open the fridge and cut a bigger lump.

First of all that area in the photo is a real mess. It needs a good cleanup or you’ll never get rid of them. They don’t just come for food but also they will come for materials for bedding etc. So get sweeping!
If you want the fastest results use sticky glue traps with food on them.
They’re pretty inhumane to be honest and In a commercial building need to be laid and disposed of by pest control but you can pick them up in discount stores. Not for the faint hearted as you have to kill the animal yourself but you can drive the population down rapidly in a very short space of time.
I’m a chef and have taken on kitchens with mouse problems in the past and this is the advice of pest control.

They work well in conjunction with a hungry cat.

Rodents in the house can cause a lot of problems, so it's better to call the exterminator so he could check your basement and communications. We haven't visited our old house for a long time and mice appeared there... It was a real disaster. Here is the solution to the problem and some measures to take if you want to keep your home safe from those pests.

    Is it poisoned spam?

Will it work on those disrupting forums with adverts?

There are also what look like big droppings in that pic.

Also a lot of big footprints too.

Significant problem if you ask me.

Seeing them in the house during the day is a very bad sign.

Did you see that Fawlty Towers came top in a Radio Times list of sitcoms? Followed by Father Ted. Aah, go on!
