Need an unusual size newel post

Hi all. I have a newel post that's quite low and want to make it taller and then attach a handrail. I'll use zipbolt to extend the newel post.

The current newel post, which is painted, measures 85x93mm. I can't find anything like that size anywhere. I suspect that I'll need to account ~1mm for paint thickness but even then, it seems like an unusual size.

Where can I source a newel post that size?

Ignore the paper wrapping, it's got a topper that's sharp around the edges and I've temporarily covered it with some cushion to stop my toddler cracking her head on it.

Buy nearest you can find and plane it to match. You’ll need to finish it in situ once attached anyway if you want a seamless joint. You’re not going to find something that just bolts on and is mm perfect.

Buy a 95x95mm square newel post, take it into a local joinery shop and for a few quid they’ll run it through their planer/thicknesser to suit your dimensions.

Use either a 25mm beech dowel or a 38mm spigot fixing to connect the new to old, zip bolts are a shat fixing and aren’t designed for what you want to use it for.
