I wonder if we might offer new members some easy options to the frequent/repeated solutions they seek with a selection of new groups? Some suggestions.... Wiring my shed... Painting over gloss paint... Changed light fitting - now everything's dark - can't wait till summer... How long before I die because I saw an asbestos lorry near town... How to offer a curt, or better still rude, reply to an experienced person who has tried to solve my problem with only minimal information to go on freely of their own time and solely for my benefit.. There must be others
Damp coming in my shed that’s laid straight on soil? Black mould on my single glazed window solid brick wallpapered bathroom wall? Fitted a large loft hatch now my ceilings sagging? Created a storage area in my loft by removing silly beams that were underfoot, why is my roof creaking? I’ve altered some waste pipe drainage, when it rains I can smell faeces?
Hi all Some advice will be much appreciated please; I need some work doing on my house and will be booking the services of a tradesperson What’s a reasonable amount I should be looking to pay for the ‘above’ work To the nearest fiver would be great Thanks again guys PS, the plans may change, nothing ‘set in stone’, all details are ‘as long as a piece of string’, I expect loads of free extras to be added at end of job and obviously, expect only the best quality in terms of labour and materials Look forward to receiving your thoughts guys (to the nearest £5 don’t forget)
I have just done some tiling, fitted a kitchen, laid some laminate flooring etc. etc. and it looks terrible. Can I pretend it was done by a tradesman and ask for advice?
HOW much to hang a door? I’ve fitted the £8000 kitchen myself, but I’ve been quoted a ludicrous price of £300 to fit the worktops, it really can’t be more than a couple of hours work? I’ve just had a rewire done by a friend on the darts team who’s an electrician, all I can now smell is fish and my upstairs floor seems bouncy, can’t get hold of him as he’s on holiday. My father in laws brothers retired cousin was a qualified builder and he tells me that the wall obviously isn’t load bearing, as there’s only timber sitting on top of it and nothing is bearing against either side. How much bearing does a steel need, I bought one off eBay and am not sure, the walls already down just need to know cheers.
I just purchased a £10,000,000 house cash! But am gonna be doing plumbing and electrical myself can someone tell me were to start and sign it off Kind regards Alf uckem
And then they wake up.... Edit: In fairness the sparky I occasionally work with on first fits is really messy and I follow him round cleaning and tidying up. He pays me to do that and if he was neat and tidy he wouldn't. There's always a bright side.
Nah, just a tonne bag size of cardboard, polythene, cable offcuts, plaster, dust and little knockout discs from all the backboxes.
