i have just put in a en suite but dont seem to be getting any hot water from the basin tap , when i open the tap it doesnt trigger the boiler into life, but when i remove the tap and turn the isolatern on the boiler kicks in , i thought it was a dodgy tap so i connected my new kitchen tap but still the same no reaction from the boiler

    Hi

Just for clarification! You have a combo boiler yes?

Do you get any water out of the tap at all?

Did you use the same flexi hose for tests on both taps? If so is it clear? Blow through it...

Is the cold ok on the tap that doesn’t work?

Are you getting much (cold) water coming through your tap? It does sound like there’s not enough flow to trigger the boiler as you seem to have worked out. Is your new pipework all 15mm?

    yes all 15mm ,

and the flow is brilliant ,

    combo boiler yes?

no differant flexisn as differant sizes for the two taps

Can you upload a pic of the pipework under the basin showing the isolators and taps please?

It works on the ballofix he said

New combi’s hall sensor or flow switch will fire on about 2-3l/min

If he’s got an old boiler with diagram or Venturi it could be many things

Try taking the aerator out the end of the tap spout with a spanner, if it’s too fast again it won’t work

    What boiler you got?

Turn the ballafix to reduce flow if it’s too fast....

Is hot water to shower elec or boiler fed? Is that ok?

So something is going wrong when it's connected to a tap. Is it a mixer tap? Is the hot going to the left hand side of the tap?

yes its a mixer tap , so s my kitchen one and i have the same problem down there , tried switching them round but nothing until i remove the tap and then the boiler kicks in on both the kitchen and ensuit

Are both taps new? Not really cheap Chinese ones? And you've tried the tap on both the hot and cold settings? What's above the isolators - just flexis straight into the tap?

So, you've got 2 x 15mm pipes coming up, going into 2 x ballofix type isolators, on to 2 x flexis which are screwed into the monoblock tap. What happens if you turn off the cold ballofix and turn on the tap? Still get good flow?
