Hi guys, I will be laying an oak engineered floor onto concrete in the near future and would like your input

1.Is eng oak flooring more stable being made up to 10mm verses 15mm

    2. Do you think that I would need to have a dpc membrane down as the property is 42 years old as there is no dampness in the concrete.

3.Fibre matt board underlay or underlay with a stick down sheet .

Thanks for your assistance in this

Look at someting like gold or timbatech underlay. It will incorporate a DPM.

    I think mine was 3mm?

The engineered oak will have a finish layer comprising of solid oak. This ranges from 3-6mm thick.

The thicker the top layer will mean a longer life as could sand after a number of yeatsyto rejuvenate. As well as being more expensive.

  4. Google a product called Elastilon, it is a self adhesive underlay for laying flooring on solid floors.

    Also check flooring for level.

Some manufacturers require a 3mm tolerance over 2m span.

If not level may have to use selr levelling compound.
