Its nature! Oak will move about. Adds character!

  2. So your top is expanding, not contracting?

And is the crack where two blocks are joined, or in the middle of a whole block?

It's expanding and contracting, its back to its original size now but had contracted.

Tech just left. Took one look and said he won't repair it as a repair will fall out if it's cracking after 2 months.. got another table being ordered.. so result!

    Least they didn't argue!

I agree, I'm guessing the Oak came to the UK from Chile, via Romania.

  6. Romania?! I bludy knew it - it's the soddin' EU again.

    Anyhoo - good result :)

I've had what I think is a similar issue with some bedroom furniture. The damn thing's arrived with woodworm in them (annoying!)...and a few years after getting rid of the woodworm these lines started appearing all over four pieces of furniture (first image, but not the main line...there are smaller slits appearing in the wood). I assumed it was related to the woodworm, but reading this thread it seems more likely it is the wood maturing...has anyone seen anything similar?
