Hi, I have a wooden surround and bought a hearth and a reclaimed cast iron insert for the living room. However, was told that I have an off centre chimney. At present the chimney hole is small and is central, however if i need to knock a bit out i can only do it from the left which will cause it to be off centre. I would like to keep it as central as possible as it is the living room. It will be a non working fireplace and just decorative. I was told I could cheat it and push the cast iron forward into the wooden surround instead of having it flushed to the chimney? Can anyone please advise me on what I can do. Thanks.
