    Hi all,

My oven bulb has blown and it takes E14 40W bulb.  However, this has always seemed quite bright and uses quite a bit of leccy.

Could I use a lower wattage bulb (25W E14) and get away with it.  Obviously the voltage will be the same and as long as i'm not exceeding the wattage it should be ok?

    Thanks.

Thats fine, but make sure you actually get "an oven lamp" - they are designed for the high temperature.

Thanks for the reply.  Do you think it will invalidate the warranty?

but if the replacement bulb is not an oven bulb it will fail.

My next post(believe it or not) is repeated, as Screwfix in their infinite wisdom?? decided that it should be REJECTED.

I have asked them why, and have not had a reply.

Could any one else tell me ?

    Mr. HandyAndy - Really

A lower rated lamp (watts) is fine it will just come down to how bright it is however make sure you get an "oven" lamp as these are heat rated and can with stand the heat within the oven, if you just put any old lamp in it will fail very quickly and possibly shatter in the oven
