Is it better to use copper olives - eg Comap 17334 - or brass olives - eg Conex 81322?

Or are there cases where one is better than the other?

I prefer copper olives, as they take up on older pipe better IMHO, brass are OK, but they need to be nipped up tight enough to squeek (so to, erm,,,,,, speak). They are also much more difficult to remove, even when using an olive puller.

Most new compression fittings seem to come with brass olives, less cooper in them so cheaper to package, I guess.

    Thanks.

It is as I feared, ie copper is best and they come with brass.

when connecting a plastic pipe to a compression fitting you should use copper olives ( and a insert )
