I am sorry but that is exactly the kind of **** you would pick up on and you fell straight for it.

Don't get us started on TLAs. My favourite are recursive TLAs ;)

The point is quite simple. The OP asked about purchasing a piece of equipment to allow him to test portable appliances. The early posts gave him sensible advice.

The thread was then dragged off course by Madhatter and your comments have had nothing to do with the original post. It is th same old story, Risteard is right. Pick up on other peoples minor errors, belittle them, get your point in.

As for PIN numbers, next time you use your card look very carefully at what the terminal says. Enter PIN .... Not enter pin number.

Get off your high horse. You couldn't resist the fight as ever and you took it hook, line and sinker.

Beware - I haven't finished with you if you continue your attitude.

    Kind regards

No I didn't. Do you actually understand what "so-called" means?

I didn't say it did say PIN Number on the ATM screen. I said most people refer to it as that whether you like it or not.

Funny how you picked on that, not on helping the OP.

    Kind regards

I was responding to a different post. This forum isn't only for whoever starts the threads.

And there was a lot of **** talked about in-service inspection and testing of electrical equipment on this thread by some which couldn't go unanswered.

Keep going. We will launch the lifeboats shortly.

    Still can't help the OP.

    Well done buddy!

So you don't use the term PAT then?

Hat, I think all that is being suggested is that there is a difference between the agreed terminology used by specialists and the common use of terms by everyone else. Customers who want their electrical equipment checked will probably ask for it to be PAT tested. As long as we all know that we are talking about the same thing, that's fine.

A similar example is VED (Vehicle Excise Duty) that is collected from all vehicle owners by the DVLA on behalf of The Treasury. Everyone else calls it Car Tax and until recently displayed a Tax Disc.

I could help the OP if I wanted to, but I am well within my rights to respond to any other post on the thread.

It's none of your business which posts I decide to respond to.

And so I am now going to refuse to respond to the OP. (What my opinion on which PAT Tester (as the instruments are called whether you like it or not) he should purchase is irrelevant anyway.)

Has anyone here tried that exam, and if so what was the result. I think it's rigged to get you to fail so you'll go on the course.

I did the 2377 exam only - read the only book - did a few sample tests - passed with over 90% - simples.

Oh forgot to add there is a practical test as well. Test two items - fill up the forms - job done!

Did it all with Proactive Technical Training at Tring, nice people.
