Patio Drainage Dilemma

We've recently had a new patio laid and a new retaining wall for our sloped garden. It rained heavily today for an hour or so and the drainage trench around the patio filled with water and hasn't drained into the ground.

On the opposite side of the patio we've got drainage channels but the builder laying patio said we wouldn't need them on the side with the retaining wall.

The drainage channel is technically on the footing for the retaining wall so Im confused as to how it could drain away? Would it be possible to connect up to the drainage channel to redirect the water?

Here's a drawing to try and explain it better!

  2. If you’ve got enough depth on top of the wall footing there’s no reason why you can’t add more drains and connect up to the other ones already in
