Hi everyone,

This pipe under my kitchen sink has become unattached.

How do I get it attached again please?

If the screw and or thread is gubbed, you won’t, it’ll need a new one. They’re called a basket strainer waste and you have to get the correct size. Have a look at the existing thread and screw and see what it’s like or post a photo.

I haven't a clue what you mean. Isn't the whole thing shown in the photo?

Looking down from above the sink ,into the waste ( plug hole you may call it ),you should see a bolt or screw head. That bolt goes through into the other half of the assembly ,which has come adrift ,and holds the two parts together.
Yours has come apart. Probably because the loose half under the sink is broken.

Ah got it. This is a picture of it.

OP,
Maybe its time to replace with a new basket strainer - replace with a McAlpine.
Get a cap for the codged up spigot.
The overflow needs shortening - loops cause smells.
Perhaps the trap needs cleaning out too?
Take the old strainer to a plumbing supplies - & show them the above pic.

Thanks. Would this be suitable?

OP,
Why not do as I suggested - go to a plumbing suppliers.
FWIW: to be certain when you've removed the old waste then measure across the hole in the sink.
