    Normal is 12.5mm

unless there is a steel in the ceiling, then you need fire check.

i'm guessing this is in a house and not flats?

Unless joists are at greater centres than 400mm then 15mm plasterboard.

You can use 12.5mm with 600mm centers can't you

You can use 12.5mm at 600 centres but you must have noggins at 1200 to give it a fixing along it's length to prevent sagging.

In practice its faster and easier to install 15mm and this is what I,m pushing for on my next site.

9.5mm is not suitable for walls and is seldom used now on ceilings either.

That's right, my suppliers have increased the price of 9.5 to equal the 12.5 as a way to stop people asking for it. They will then phase it out completely.

some bcos are ok with 9.5 on ceilings, but id always use 12.5 unless your patching and only 9.5 matches
