Started a 2nd fix on house rewire today..

Walked into the kitchen and the Water Main bond cable was hanging out of the light switch next to the back door..

(Stop tap, at floor level below switch)

The main bond had been disconnected from the stop tap and the cable rerouted through the light switch (clamp loose but in place).

To make matters worse every other cable that needed to be place through plaster board (not any cables coming out of boxes).............

    He plasterboarded, then skimmed over..

Including 10 downlight drops, the bathroom extractor fan and the Landing light switch..

I had this a few weeks ago, only over about 10 outlets thankfully, i just told the client i would have to make plenty of holes to find the outlets and he should charge/deduct/get back the plasterer, which he did.

Still couldnt get my extra time back tho.

I wouldn't of minded so much, but I left explicit instructions/drawing for the d/light cable drops..

I always get the plasterer to push up the downlights and I cut them out after making a diagram of where they all are, them spreds just dont have the brains to bring them out in the right places, and once the hammer has been put through the board you cant get a start with the cutter, as per a previous thread. Also when they do need to bring a cable out, fire alarm for eg, its such a big hammer induced hole you can never get a fix. For this reason I usually put a noggings in in possible.

All previous plasterers I've encountered, never seemed to have an issue with cables.

    (Or pushing cables through, like)

  9. Kev - I do believe a hammer is called for ;)

"sorry mate - I was looking for the cables but missed" :^O

    instructions/drawing"

One who assumes plasterers can read and write is one who is in for big problems.

The best line I've heard in a while was the plasterer ringing up the builder:-

platerer 'why havent you given me any work for a while'

Builder 'well to be truthful, nobody * likes you'

Sparks113 has summed it up in a nutshell.

Unless on a large site then this action will go un-punished.

HIT BACK AND HIT BACK HARD.

It quite easy to get loads of nails to pop expecially if you got to clip cables in the loft joists twist fairly easily up there.

    Lol
